Qualifications for licensure as a Naturopathic Doctor in the state of New Mexico:
- Graduate from an accredited CNME accredited naturopathic educational program
- Pass Part 1 and Part 2 of the NPLEX Exam (Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Examination)
- Pass the following NPLEX Clinical Elective Examinations: Pharmacology AND Minor Surgery
- Pass a state jurisprudence exam (once your application and supporting documents have been received by the New Mexico Medical Board, you will receive an email with access to the jurisprudence exam).
- Be of good moral and professional behavior
- Possess professional liability insurance (For more info on companies that offer coverage for NDs, click here)
- Be physically and mentally capable of safely practicing naturopathic medicine with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Have not had a license to practice naturopathic medicine or other healthcare license registration or certificate refused, revoked or suspended by any other jurisdiction for reasons that relate to the applicant’s ability to skillfully and safely practice naturopathic medicine unless that license, registration or certification has been restored to good standing by that jurisdiction; and any other proof of competency as may be requested by the board.
Applicants will also need:
- TWO letters of recommendation from a naturopathic doctor or physician licensed to practice medicine in the United States, who have personal knowledge of the applicant’s moral character and competence to practice.
- Copies of certificates or diplomas and official transcripts for medical colleges or universities attended
- Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Exam transcripts
- Verification of licensure in other states
- Work Experience verification
- Current CV/Resume
- All applicants for initial licensure as a naturopathic doctor are subject to a state and national criminal history screening at the applicant’s expense.
